A balanced diet and regular exercise are the keys to a harmonious figure. However, despite these efforts some patients are naturally predisposed to lack abdominal firmness with or without excess skin. Dr. Gianfermi will help you determine the best abdominoplasty technique based on your request and his clinical examination.
After pregnancy, distension and excess abdominal skin may persist. Weakening of the abdominal muscles can create the appearance of a round belly. Dr. Gianfermi's abdominoplasty technique can specifically target the problems of laxity and excess skin that many women face after pregnancy.
Significant weight loss after bariatric surgery or dieting alone is the cause of excess skin and fat around the abdomen, hips and more broadly around the waist. These excesses form these unsightly bulges. This is all the more frustrating for patients who have already made numerous efforts to find their ideal body. Dr. Gianfermi customizes the abdominoplasty technique for each patient for an optimal result.
The incision is located on the lower abdomen, a few centimeters above the vulvar fork (usually lower than a cesarean scar).
The incision follows the natural curvature of the abdominal fold, with each end curving progressively upward.
Dr. Gianfermi can tighten a relaxed rectus abdominis muscle, if necessary, and thus return the abdominals to their proper position.
To do this, he sutures the muscles by bringing their edges closer to the midline (white line), then adds another line of suture to restore the normal anatomy.
Dr. Gianfermi uses suture techniques that allow him to define the oblique muscles in the most complex cases. Thanks to these different procedures, the stomach becomes toned and flat again.
Drains are usually not put in during the procedure. This reduces pain and discomfort secondary to the device. The compression girdle is placed as soon as the procedure is over. It decreases edema and accelerates recovery. It must be worn for 1 month day and night and then 1 month during the day. The day after the operation it is usual to have bruising and swelling. This will improve rapidly during the first two weeks.
Most patients can drive within 7 to 10 days after surgery and can return to work within two weeks. You will need to limit your physical activities for four weeks after surgery. The swelling will be largely resolved by 6 weeks after surgery.
The use of deep sutures, progressive high tension and care taken with skin closure are the guarantees of a fine and discreet scar. No less than 5 layers of sutures are used.
The scar positioning located in the clothing allows you to easily conceal the scar.
