Thigh lift
( cruroplasty )

Dr. Massimo Gianfermi is a leading specialist surgeon in the field of cosmetic surgery and thigh lift

What is a thigh lift?

The thigh lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves removing excess skin on the inner side of the thighs.

Indication for a cruroplasty: Distended skin

Sagging thigh skin comes from two main causes: progressive aging or severe amaliginization. During diagnosis, Dr. Gianfermi takes into account the morphology of the thighs, including the amount of excess fat, skin quality, and muscle tone. The thigh lift can be combined with a body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin on the middle third of the body in one go.

Questions about Cruroplasty

Is this procedure covered by social security?
This procedure can sometimes be covered by social security after requesting a prior agreement from social security. This request is made on a pre-printed form delivered by the surgeon during the consultation. Patients who can benefit from this coverage are those with massive weight loss sequelae ( 30 to 40 kg) in particular after bariatric surgery (gastric band or gastric bypass). In all other cases, no care is possible and the procedure therefore remains entirely at the patient’s expense.
Thigh Lift vs. Lipoaspiration
Correction of the inner thighs is related to excess skin and fat. If the excess skin is too great, liposuction is not enough and the results will be disappointing. It is then necessary to propose to remove part of the skin on the inner thigh. A scar is then inevitable but the result will be as expected.
Visible scars ?
The scar is sometimes placed in the fold of the thigh and is therefore perfectly hidden in the swimsuit. In other cases, it is located along the thigh from the inguinal crease to the plumb of the knee.
How long does the procedure last and how long is the hospital stay?
The duration of the procedure is approximately two hours and the hospital stay is 3 to 5 days depending on the extent of the procedure.
After how long can one resume normal activity?
This operation imposes a strong tension on the tissues at the root of the thigh. During the first two weeks, movements of the thighs are forbidden. This type of movement will be performed gradually over the next fifteen days. Normal activity can therefore be resumed one month after surgery. For sports, it will be necessary to wait for perfect healing, that is to say, a period of one or two months.

Indications

Before the thigh lift

The first consultation is to examine the thighs to assess the amount of skin to be removed and thus the length of the scar to be performed. It is essential that the patient understands and visualizes what the scarring will be, which is not negligible. In return, the thigh skin will be well tightened. Social security coverage is sometimes possible after requesting a prior agreement . In this case, the surgeon will give you a pre-printed form to send to your primary health insurance fund by registered mail with acknowledgement of receipt. Within approximately 15 days you will be summoned by the social security doctor who will validate or not the agreement. A response will then be given by mail to the surgeon. A preoperative assessment by blood test is essential as well as a visit to the anesthesiologist within a maximum of one month and a minimum of 48 hours. You will then be able to undergo surgery. It is essential to stop smoking at least 6 weeks prior to surgery
